The American Film Institute will honor Eddie Murphy with the 51st Life Achievement Award on April 18.
The Life Achievement Award is America’s highest honor for a career in film, recognizing Murphy as the most commercially successful African American actor in motion picture history and one of the industry’s top five box-office performers overall.
Kathleen Kennedy, Chair of the AFI Board of Trustees, praised Murphy as an American icon, saying he is “a trailblazing force in the art forms of film, television, and stand-up comedy, and his versatility knows no bounds. AFI is proud to honor him with the 51st AFI Life Achievement Award.”
This tribute will be presented on April 18 during the Gala Tribute to benefit AFI’s arts and education initiatives.
Congratulations to Eddie Murphy on this incredible honor!
