Congratulations are in order for Akinola Davies Jr., who has been nominated for Best Breakthrough Director at the 2025 Gotham Film Awards for his feature-length debut, ‘My Father’s Shadow.’
The film stars Sopé Dìrísù, Godwin Egbo, and Chibuike Marvelous Egbo, following two young brothers as they navigate Lagos with their estranged father amid the political unrest surrounding the 1993 Nigerian election crisis.
