Chiwetel Ejiofor Joins Cast Of Mike Flanagan’s ‘Exorcist’ Film Alongside Scralett Johansson, Dian Lane, And Jacobi Jupe
Chiwetel Ejiofor is stepping into the world of The Exorcist as part of Blumhouse, Atomic Monster, and Morgan Creek Entertainment’s reimagining of the iconic horror franchise.
The project marks a reunion between Ejiofor and filmmaker Mike Flanagan, who previously directed him in The Life of Chuck, the Stephen King adaptation that won the People’s Choice Award at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival. Flanagan has described his approach to The Exorcist as a bold new chapter, set within the franchise’s universe rather than serving as a direct remake or sequel.
Flanagan wrote the screenplay and will direct and produce the film. Ejiofor joins a cast that includes Scarlett Johansson, Jacobi Jupe, and Diane Lane. According to reports, Ejiofor will portray a former convict who has become a priest, placing him at the spiritual center of the story’s unfolding horror.
