We want to experience joy during Black History Month, particularly during these heightened times. Whoever signed off on this is not thoughtful at all, respectfully. What about Panther, Birth of a Nation, Sarafina, Mandela (Danny Glover), A Raisin in the Sun? ✊🏾

I hear y’all. Generally speaking, people want to hear more uplifting stories during Black History Month and see the beautiful side of our stories amplified. However, as we all know, the Black experience also encompasses these painful experiences/history—which is really important to highlight right now, especially as they are literally trying to erase and rewrite our history. Also, there may be people who were too young to understand the Oscar Grant story at the time, who can revisit now that they’re older and hopefully be transformed to take action during this Black History Month. If you have more alternative movies and shows you’d like to see this month, please share!
