Monarch Media and AGC Studios have added two standout talents to the cast of Babies, the upcoming comedy-drama led by Anna Kendrick and Seth Rogen. Emmy-Nominated actors Issa Rae and Zach Cherry have officially joined the ensemble of the film, which is written and directed by Lauren Miller Rogen.
Babies follows a married couple, Annie (Kendrick) and Aaron (Rogen), who can’t agree on whether they’re ready for parenthood — until a newly divorced friend moves in with her four-year-old, pushing the pair into an unplanned crash course in raising a child.
Issa Rae, known for her award-winning series Insecure and her recent roles in Barbie and American Fiction, brings her signature wit, warmth, and charisma to the film’s supporting cast.
Also joining the lineup is Zach Cherry, a rising favorite among fans of Apple TV+’s acclaimed thriller Severance, where he plays the sharp-tongued and lovable Dylan. Cherry has also built a strong comedic presence through roles in You, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Crashing, and numerous scene-stealing appearances across film and television. His grounded humor and emotional range make him a powerful addition to Babies’ already dynamic ensemble.
Production began in Los Angeles in early November, backed by the California Film Commission’s Film and Television Tax Credit program. Producers include Lauren Miller Rogen and Jen W. Ray for LYLAS Pictures, Stuart Ford for AGC Studios, and Steve Barnett for Monarch Media.
With Issa Rae’s vibrant energy and Zach Cherry’s sharp comedic timing joining the cast, Babies is shaping up to be a heartfelt, funny, and refreshingly honest exploration of modern family.
