The sequel to the 2011 British cult classic ‘Attack the Block’ is finally on the horizon! BAFTA Award-winning actor John Boyega has officially confirmed that work on the long-awaited follow-up is moving forward.
‘Attack the Block’ is a sci-fi comedy-horror centered on a group of teen boys who are forced to fight off some vicious extraterrestrials after they invade their South London neighborhood. The film, written and directed by Joe Cornish, marked Boyega’s breakout lead role, in which he starred alongside Franz Drameh, Leeon Jones, Alex Esmail, Simon Howard, Jumayn Hunter, and Jodie Whittaker.
Now, more than a decade later, the sequel has officially been confirmed, with Boyega set to reprise his role as Moses. He expressed excitement for his return, saying, “I’ve read [the script], man. It’s cool, bro. It’s cool. Yeah, I’ve read it. Joe Cornish has done a phenomenal job on his draft. And we’re just cooking it to make it right for everyone… But I’m very passionate and very willing that we will shoot ‘Attack the Block 2.’ It will happen.”
Joe Cornish is once again writing and directing, and he’ll produce alongside Boyega (via UpperRoom Productions), Nira Park and Edgar Wright (via Complete Fiction), and James Wilson.
‘Attack the Block 2’ is reportedly set to be released in 2026, and fans couldn’t be more excited about Moses’ return to the big screen.
