Saddle up and steady your horses! Jordan Peele’s highly anticipated upcoming documentary ‘High Horse: The Black Cowboy’ will premiere on Peacock November 20.
The three-part series, inspired by his 2022 movie ‘Nope,’ challenges the white-centricity of the American cowboy’s legacy. According to Peacock, the “pop culture and historical documentary…rides into the forgotten corners of history, shattering myths and celebrating the Black cowboys, farmers, jockeys, musicians, and rodeo champions who built the West — and now takes back their place in the saddle, sitting high atop the horse.”
The documentary features original interviews with Peele, The Compton Cowboys, Glynn Turman, Tina Knowles, Pam Grier, Bun B, Blanco Brown, INK, Rick Ross, Lynae Vanee, Lori Harvey, and more.
‘High Horse: The Black Cowboy’ is directed by Jason Perez and produced by Monkeypaw Productions and Universal Television Alternative Studio. Executive producers include Peele, Keisha Senter, Win Rosenfeld, and Jamal Watson from Monkeypaw Productions. Kadine Anckle, Keith McQuirter, Mari Keiko Gonzalez, Liz Yale Marsh, Tom Casciato, and Sacha Jenkins also serve as executive producers. Grammy Award winner Raphael Saadiq composed the score.
