'Lazarus: The Awakening' Starring Sean Riggs, Courtney Grace, R. Marcus Taylor, And Kiki Haynes Releases Jan. 31
A New Black Superhero Rises — Again Martial Arts, Power, and Justice Collide In The Explosive Sequel
Lazarus: The Awakening, the highly anticipated sequel to the groundbreaking action film Lazarus (2021), will debut on streaming platforms January 31, 2026, released by Samuel Goldwyn Films. The original film marked a major milestone as Tubi’s first original feature, introducing audiences to a grounded, street-level superhero forged through discipline, resilience, and raw physical mastery.
Produced by Sean Riggs—who also stars in the lead role—alongside legendary producer Andrew Stevens of Andrew Stevens Entertainment, Lazarus: The Awakening unites a bold franchise creator with an industry heavyweight. Stevens, a Golden Globe–nominated actor (The Boys in Company C) and veteran producer, is known for delivering muscular, commercial action cinema with credits including The Whole Nine Yards, 3000 Miles to Graceland, Get Carter, and Driven. Directed by acclaimed action filmmaker Art Camacho, the film delivers visceral, high-impact martial-arts choreography rooted in brutal realism.

The story follows a man pushed beyond human limits by violence, corruption, and betrayal. Shot and left for dead, he awakens transformed—rising as a grounded, street-level superhero who delivers justice through discipline, skill, and unbreakable will. The film stars Sean Riggs alongside R. Marcus Taylor (Straight Outta Compton), Courtney Grace (Stranger Things, Tulsa King, Christy), and Kiki Haynes (Tyler Perry’s All the Queen’s Men), bringing emotional depth and dramatic weight to the action-driven narrative. Lazarus: The Awakening stands at the intersection of superhero mythology and martial-arts cinema—honoring classic action traditions while pushing representation forward. More than a movie, this is a statement.

Super excited for this!
