Moonchild Media Announces 'SHADE,' A Visual Tribute To Dreamers Set Against Miami’s Ever-Changing Landscape
Moonchild Media is proud to announce the upcoming release of SHADE, a visually striking new short film written and directed by Valentino Dors. Set to make its world premiere in 2026, SHADE serves as a heartfelt tribute to creatives striving to build something meaningful out of nothing, while navigating the emotional challenges of chasing a dream.
Presented in a distinctive square aspect ratio and mastered in 3840x2160 with 5.1 surround sound, the 20-minute film offers an immersive and intimate viewing experience. SHADE blends Miami’s beauty, grit, and transformation into a narrative that reflects the city’s rapid evolution and the resilience of those carving out their own path within it.
“At its core, SHADE is a love letter to creators who keep pushing, even when they feel unseen,” says director Valentino Dors. “It represents the courage it takes to dream loudly in a world that often asks you to shrink.”
The film follows a determined dreamer who strives to build something real amidst Miami’s shifting cultural landscape—capturing the universal experience of holding onto hope and vision despite obstacles and uncertainty.
Shade follows Malik, a quiet but gifted South Florida videographer whose poetic work goes unnoticed in a scene that values clout over craft. While others chase trends, Malik stays true to his artistry, capturing raw, emotional imagery that reflects both his vision and isolation. The film explores the emotional toll of being an overlooked creative, portraying his struggle through light, shadow, and reflective visuals of Miami’s ever-changing landscape.
At its core, Shade is about creative perseverance — the beauty and loneliness of artists who give everything to their craft without external validation.
SHADE also showcases the work of notable collaborators whose personal journeys mirror the message of the film:
Rotem, a fashion creative whose evolution began in her grandmother’s home in the Middle East, contributes a design perspective shaped by reinvention and resourcefulness. Her work has appeared at Art Basel 2022, Miami Swim Week Paraiso 2024, California Fashion Week, El Paseo, and the Maker’s Mark Cabana showcase for Swim Week 2025.
Berry Etienne, the film’s visual creative partner, brings years of experience in lighting and cinematography. Born in Haiti and raised in South Florida, Etienne has spent his career studying the craft of visual storytelling with the goal of becoming a director of photography.
With its balance of cinematic artistry and emotional resonance, SHADE aims to inspire anyone who has ever fought to be seen, heard, or understood.
