Nicki Micheaux plays Ayanna who is a key supporting role as the mother of Wazi and Xavier Carr played by RJ Cyler and Jermaine Fowler. Ayanna is a conspiracy-minded but spiritually rooted figure who draws on Zulu ancestor teachings and mystical practices to protect her family and neighborhood.
