The psychological thriller ‘On Paper’ is set to make waves on the festival circuit following its recent selection for the Pan African Film Festival (PAFF), marking a strong launch ahead of its planned 2026 release. PAFF will take place from February 16–22 at the Culver Theater, with the film’s screening date to be announced by the festival.
The film centers on a struggling screenwriter who realizes his latest script is eerily mirroring a series of real-life murders. As paranoia takes hold, he must confront whether he’s being inspired by a killer, haunted by one—or slowly becoming one himself. ‘On Paper’ blurs the line between imagination and reality, and explores the psychological cost of creative expression.
The ensemble cast includes Noah Abbott (Neighborhood Alert), Vernon Davis (Please Don’t Feed the Children), Malika Blessing (Wicked City), TravQue (Still Here), Jerrel O’Neal (G.R.I.T.S), Carrie Bernans (The Color Purple), and G. Anthony Joseph (President Down).
The supporting cast features Solomon Wise, Chris Camaj, Cookie Mazle, Jalene Mack, Michael Camacho, Wallace Demarriá, Brittney Bell, Sydni Davis, Daria Kokora, Tiffani Ann Mills, Rayshawn Chism, Frankie Blair, Syant Cross, Mynor A. Del Cid, and Bobby Brooks, with a special cameo by Jaqueline Fleming.
‘On Paper’ is written by Randall Rydell Russell (The Hostage) and directed by Amanda Niqole in her feature directorial debut. Producers include Jaqueline Fleming (Love Jones, Wrong Place, Wrong Time, Red) and T. Bankolé (The Dutchman) under their At The Kitchen Table banner. Vernon Davis, Chris Beal, and Shalina Murrell also serve as producers, with Wallace Demarriá co-producing. NFL Washington Commanders defensive lineman Deatrich Wise Jr. serves as executive producer.
The film is represented by Joshua A. Edwards at Fox Rothschild. ‘On Paper’ recently wrapped production in Los Angeles and is now launching its festival run ahead of its official 2026 release.
