The Club Juke sinners are part of the awards-season conversation! The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has unveiled the shortlists for select categories ahead of the 98th Academy Awards, and Ryan Coogler’s ‘Sinners’ has earned a spot on the shortlist for the Academy’s newly introduced Casting category.
Francine Maisler served as casting director for the film’s superstar ensemble, which includes Michael B. Jordan, Miles Caton, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Delroy Lindo, Omar Benson Miller, Li Jun Li, Yao, Hailee Steinfeld, and Jack O’Connell.
Oscar shortlists function as a preliminary phase in the awards process, identifying semifinalist films and achievements in select categories before final nominations are determined. Academy members will vote from these shortlists to select the official nominees.
Official nominations for the 98th Academy Awards will be announced on Thursday, January 22, 2026. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood, and will be televised live on ABC and in more than 200 territories worldwide.
