‘Sinners’ took home the Actor Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture last night, with Samuel L. Jackson presenting the honor. The win recognizes the film’s standout ensemble and marks a historic milestone for director Ryan Coogler.
Oscar nominee Delroy Lindo accepted the honor on behalf of the cast, delivering a heartfelt speech that captured the spirit of the film and its creative team. “This project is anointed, and from that standpoint, we are all anointed to be a part of this incredible journey created by the genius Ryan Coogler, Zinzi, Sev, Mike…,” he said. “Every single day we brought ourselves, we brought our hearts, we brought our souls, we brought our spirits to this endeavor. And to be recognized by you all—thank you does not come anywhere near to encompassing what we feel. From the bottom of our hearts to the bottom of your hearts, thank you so much.”
With the win, Coogler becomes the first director to have two films win in this category at the Actor Awards—the first being ‘Black Panther’ (2018).
From all of us at TheBlkScript, congratulations to Ryan Coogler and the ‘Sinners’ ensemble on this well-deserved achievement!
