NBC is developing a new spy drama titled Need To Know, with Taye Diggs set to star and executive produce. The project reunites Diggs with director and producer Malcolm D. Lee, who will also executive produce under his Blackmaled Productions banner. Spycraft Entertainment is on board as a producing partner.
The pilot script was written by Alexander Maggio (FBI, Homeland). If the series moves forward, Terence Paul Winter (Boston Blue, The Equalizer) will serve as showrunner and executive producer.
Need To Know centers on a seasoned CIA operative, played by Diggs, who partners with an overconfident young agent to lead high-stakes covert missions from a hidden base in South Florida. The story is inspired by real intelligence operations.
Executive producers include Diggs, Lee, Dominique Telson, Jerry O’Shea, and John Sipher of Spycraft Entertainment, with Michael Scott Allen and Rachel Harner as co-executive producers. Universal Television will produce.
