The 31st Annual Critics Choice Awards Nominees Announced With 'Sinners' In The Lead With 17 Nominations
The Critics Choice Association has officially revealed the nominees for the 31st annual Critics Choice Awards, highlighting an impressive slate of film and television contenders. On the film side, One Battle After Another, Sinners, and Wicked: For Good are all competing for Best Picture, with standout performances earning key acting nods. Michael B. Jordan secured a Best Actor nomination for his role in Sinners, while Chase Infiniti earned a Best Actress nomination for One Battle After Another. The supporting categories also feature strong representation, including Wunmi Mosaku for Sinners and Teyana Taylor for One Battle After Another. Rising talent Miles Caton received a nomination for Best Young Actor/Actress for his work in Sinners.
Behind the camera, Sinners continues its dominance with Ryan Coogler picking up nominations for both Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. The film also scored additional recognition in technical categories, including Autumn Durald Arkapaw for Best Cinematography, Hannah Beachler and Monique Champagne for Best Production Design, and Ruth E. Carter for Best Costume Design. Paul Tazewell also earned a nomination for his costume work on Wicked: For Good. In the hair and makeup category, Sinners and The Smashing Machine received nods, while the original song “I Lied to You” from Sinners, created by Raphael Saadiq and Ludwig Göransson, landed a nomination for Best Song.
On the television front, Hulu’s Paradise leads major categories with a Best Drama Series nomination and a Best Actor nod for Sterling K. Brown. The drama categories also highlight Ato Essandoh for The Diplomat, Wood Harris for Forever, and Tramell Tillman for Severance. Leading actresses Nicole Beharie (The Morning Show), Denée Benton (The Gilded Age), and Skye P. Marshall (Matlock) each secured nominations for their standout supporting roles. In comedy, Abbott Elementary earned a nomination for Best Comedy Series, with David Alan Grier scoring a Best Actor nomination for St. Denis Medical. The supporting comedy category includes Danielle Brooks for Peacemaker, Janelle James for Abbott Elementary, and Ego Nwodim for Saturday Night Live. Rounding out the limited series categories, Brian Tyree Henry received a nomination for his performance in Dope Thief, while Ashley Walters earned recognition for his supporting role in Adolescence.
